Former Republicans-turned-Independent-turned-Democrat, Charlie Crist, will be announcing his candidacy for governor this week, setting up what could be an epic political slugfest between Rick Scott’s Republican Party, and a splintered Democratic Party, who are struggling with the idea of backing a candidate Floridians are hard-pressed to trust.
Scott’s Let’s Get to Work re-election committee has raised over $13 million, a fundraising number that would demoralize any candidate jumping to the race, but not for someone like Charlie Crist, whose fundraising prowess in nothing less than legendary.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
But can Crist match that dollar amount, and compete with the millions more Scott stands to raise, this considering that Crist will have to negotiate the aforementioned fact that his new political party is not completely supportive of his candidacy?
Scott’s team is not wasting time, and is planning to drive a campaign yard sign through the heart of Crist’s political campaign, starting with a reported $500,000 ad buy that depicts Crist as an “opportunist.”
Crist will not be able to compare his past amebic gubernatorial economic and jobs-growth record to Scott’s current 3-year uptick in jobs-creating and economic growth.Crist will most likely go after Scott on social issues, issues like Abortion, which have proven to be political ‘Kryptonite’ for Republicans in past campaigns, while Scott and the GOP will probably stick to the current message that Crist is the poster child for political narcissism and opportunism
