Fox News’ Chris Wallace had Senator Marco Rubio on his Sunday morning political show, where he asked him about Senator Mitch McConnell’s recent remark about the government shutdown that Rubio, Cruz, Lee, and other members of the Congress, are blamed for causing.Rubio said that he was “never in favor of shutting down the government,” adding that he “was never in favor of defunding the government,” only Obamacare.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
When asked if McConnell was wrong to say that government shutdown was off the table, Rubio stated that Obama was the person who took the position, side-stepping Wallace’s direct question about McConnell’s statement.
Wallace then brought up that the Senate Conservatives Fund, who endorsed and supported Rubio’s 2010 Senate race, had just back businessman Matt Bevin’s 2014 primary challenge to Senator Mitch McConnell, asking Rubio if he supported McConnell’s re-election.
“Matt Bevin is a true conservative who will fight to stop the massive spending, bailouts, and debt that are destroying our country”-Senate Conservative Fund
Here is the exchange:
Expect Rubio to get pummeled for supporting someone, who both the Tea Party and conservative grassroots believe is the epitomizes the Republican establishment in Washington, D.C.Wallace: Do you support McConnell’s re-election to the Senate?
Rubio: I do. I do support Senator McConnell’s re-election. I think he is trying to lead our conference, its a diverse conference with a lot of different opinions, and that’s a tough job …I think he has done a good job of being the leader of the Republican conference in the Senate, and I think that’s not an easy job to do.
