Florida Congressman Joe Garcia (D) has now apologized for his statement on the House floor, in which he referred to the “extremist” Republicans as “this Taliban.”
Appearing on South Florida’s ‘Facing South Florida’ Sunday morning political TV show, Garcia answered host Jim DeFede’s question, of how his remark referring to Republicans as the Taliban, would help the country “get out of this deadlock?”

During his address, Garcia himself said that “we’ve heard a lot of things from the other side,” and that he understood how messaging worked.

Garcia said that he was not referring to his colleagues in the House of Representatives as the Taliban, but only a small group of “extremists” that he felt were holding the country hostage by shutting down the government.
Whether he was referring to one, two, or a small group of “extremist” Representatives, all members of the U.S. House Congress are Garcia’s colleagues.
