U.S. Senator Marco Rubio has a very healthy obsession for the game of American football. The former college cornerback never had the right stuff to make it to play for the Florida Gators, let alone his beloved Dolphins, but that has not stopped him from staying close to the action.
The Naples Daily News’ Ryan Mills snapped this pic of Rubio this weekend, helping out on the sidelines of his nephew’s youth football league game.

Rubio’s obsession with football is famous in several Miami circles, as he is been known to throw a pillow or two at the TV screen, and can also be spotted pacing the Miami Dolphin sidelines, ala former Dolphin coach Don Shula.
Rubio, who himself plays in a yearly flag football tournament in South Miami, is also grooming his two sons to follow in his footsteps, as well as coaching their flag football youth league teams.
The one time Tarkio College stand out loves to talk football, but don’t mention getting his boys to play the ‘real’ Futbol (Soccer), because he will dismiss it as fast as the Dolphins’ give up touchdowns to their opponents.
