By JAVIER MANJARRESThe recent Politico story about Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s plans to use her donor base to advance her political career, has caused Democratic heads to explode around the country, as they feel that ‘DWS’ is grossly exploiting her position as DNC Chair.
“I don’t really do anything halfway,” Wasserman Schultz told Politico. “We thought with the higher profile I have at the DNC, and the donor relationships I’ve been able to build — and thankfully, a lot of people who want to help me be successful, because we share the same goals. We kind of put the leadership PAC on steroids. That’s the best way to describe it.”–Townhall
I don’t see what the big deal is. Isn’t the exploitation of political standing and power by elected officials common practice from both Republicans and Democrats?
Townhall reports that Democrats are unsettled by Wasserman Schultz’s honest comments. Perhaps this is because they are not used to hearing her speak honestly about just about everything? I don’t know, you would have to ask these upset Democrats.
It is also being reported that the Wasserman Schultz’s close friends and the White House, including President Obama, are all upset with her comments. Even the liberal blog Wonkette, has blasted ‘DWS’ calling her a “selfish Jerk.”
But a rift between ‘DWS’ and Obama is nothing new. As the Democratic Long Knives have already been pulled out on ‘DWS,’ as Obama contemplated booting her from atop the DNC, regardless if he won re-election.
It seems as if the relationship has soured to the point that according to the source, “He does not want her in the DNC anymore.” Apparently, President Obama had discussions with the DNC Chairwoman regarding her approach, even telling her, “Don’t forget you work for me.”
It’s not about you, its about me. – attributed to President Barack Obama to Debbie Wasserman Schultz, as per our source The problem that the President has is this- he can’t fire her, at least at this juncture. If President Obama were to remove Wasserman Schultz from her post he would be weakening his own position, as it would be very hard to find someone that is both in lock-step with his agenda and willing to run cover for him as she has done.-Wasserman Schultz Getting Booted From DNC
The jealousy-driven animosity towards ‘DWS’ is very common against someone that wields enormous influence and power. This is politics and everyone involved at some point wants the sun to shine on them.
