Congresswoman and Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz is not ruling out a run for statewide office. Wasserman Schultz told the Politico that she is focused on her current jobs of DNC chair, and U.S Representative toFlorida’s 23rd Congressional District. It’s not clear what Wasserman Schultz wants — she pointedly wouldn’t rule out running for leadership, governor or senator.
“So far, the people of the 23rd Congressional District still continue to want me to represent them, and I don’t have any immediate plans to run for statewide office, but I can’t tell you I would never run for statewide office,” she said.-Politico
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
If ‘DWS’ were to consider running for statewide office in the future, there is a good chance that she may go head-to-head with one of the people in this world she loves to hate most, former Congressman and Fox News Contributor, Allen West. I can’t even begin to tell you how much fun a West vs. ‘DWS’ Senate race would be.
There has been talk that West may be interested in running for the U.S. Senate, possibly in 2018, or in 2016, depending on whether or not Rubio wins the 2016 Republican Presidential nomination. Woah! Let’s slow down here. First, Rubio would have to commit to run for President, and if he won the nomination, Rubio may have to relinquish his Senate seat to be able to run an effective nationwide presidential campaign.
Florida Governor Rick Scott, if he wins re-election in 2014, would then have the luxury of appointing someone to fill Rubio’s vacated Senate seat. Scott is very fond of Allen West, and could look to appoint West to fill Rubio’s vacated seat. Charlie Crist did this in 2010 when he appointed his friend and former Chief of Staff, George LeMieux to replace outgoing former U.S. Senator Mel Martinez.
But then again, ‘DWS’ could surprise us all in 2014, and decide to run against Governor Rick Scott. You never know what Debbie will do next.Share and “Like” the story below, and leave a comment
