Just a few weeks ago, Conservatives from across the country took a stand in opposition against fellow conservative Senator Marco Rubio’s immigration reform bill, which eventually passed in the U.S. Senate, but not before Rubio shot himself in the foot with his base of support for proposing the bill.Rubio’s colleagues in the Senate, Mike Lee and Ted Cruz, were two of the most vocal detractors of Rubio’s bill, along with the scores of grassroots and Tea Party organizations like FreedomWorks, as well as groups like the Heritage Foundation and Citizens United.
Now all of these folks have apparently put immigration reform aside and have come together to call for the defunding of Obamacare. Senator Mike Lee’s “Defundit” Gang of Republicans, which includes Rubio, is taking aim at the upcoming continuing resolution budget as being the “last best chance to stop this law from moving forward.”
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
What these Senators are trying to do is add to their “Wacko Bird” reputation of obstructing dangerous and un-American legislation, by attempting to pass a budget that excludes funding for Obamacare.
This “Wacko Bird” effort will most likely fail in the Democratic-controlled U.S. Senate.
The term “Wacko Bird” was first coined by Republican Senator John “Amnesty” McCain, to describe Senator Rand Paul and the rest of the new blood of conservative Senators in the U.S. Senate“I hope this law never goes into effect,” Rubio said at the press conference. “I don’t think it can be fixed. I hope that its most damaging impacts will not be felt by our people. In particular, the hard working middle class who will pay the highest price of all. But if, God forbid, it does, every single one of us will have to go home and answer to people who ask, ‘Why did you let this happen?’
And I for one, and I know my colleagues as well, are not prepared to go home and tell people, ‘Well, we tried, but we couldn’t.’ We have to go home and say, ‘We did everything we could. We took every step available to us.’ And that’s why this is such an important issue. That’s why defunding this in September in the short-term budget is so critical. Because it truly is our last best chance to stop this law from moving forward.”-Senator Marco Rubio
For America, one of the groups leading of this effort to defund Obamacare, has just launched a video and ad campaign against Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, likening him to a chicken (video here) because of his refusal to support the defunding of ObamaCare
