The self-described “Congressman with Guts,” Democratic Congressman Alan Grayson, held his first constituent town hall meeting at the Barry University School of Law in Orlando, Florida. The mixed crowd of 150, mostly supporters of Grayson, were treated to a very well organized event, where Grayson outlined his recently proposed amendments, both the ones that passed in the House of Representatives, as well as the ones that did not make it to a vote.
Grayson seemed confident and in command of the issues, even cracking a couple of jokes that were actually funny. Most politicians try too hard to make their audience laugh, but jokes usually fall flat.
During his presentation, Jorge Bonilla, Grayson’s Republican Congressional opponent, entered the town hall meeting and sat by himself towards the back of the room. As Bonilla entered, it was hard not to notice Grayson’s staff scramble to DEFCON 1, pointing Bonilla out to other supporters and support personnel in the room.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Within 5 minutes of Bonilla sitting down, Team Grayson showed their true political hospitality, as one gentleman with a “Tax Collector” lapel badge, immediately positioned himself directly behind Bonilla. Seconds later, two young and attractive women walked up and sat on either sides of Bonilla, creeping over at what he was texting or doing with his phone. They sat next him until the very end.
All in all, the Grayson’s town hall went off without a hitch, but raised some questions during the Q &A segment of the meeting that needed answering. After Grayson finished speaking, I made my way over to to ask him a simple question about the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).
To my surprise, Grayson turned to me, raising his voice in front of 10-20 supporters and proceeded to call me a liar.Fortunately, my tape recorder was still on and I was able to record Mr. Grayson’s before he ran from answering any of my questions.
“No, you’ve been very insulting to me, I don’t appreciate that. I read what you write, lies. You are a liar, go ahead and record that…”–Rep. Alan Grayson
My response to Grayson was,” Lies, what lies, I used your own words?”
In all honest, I was taken back at how he snapped at me, and was offended that he stated that I have been insulting to him. So, I decided to go back and read my past post on Grayson, trying to figure out what he meant when said I was insulting to him.
Everything that I have written is fact, and the majority of what was written, that he may find “insulting,” are words he uttered himself, or actions he has taken.
Regardless of what Grayson thinks of what I have written and reported about him, I never thought that he would run from any line of questioning.
