Muslims throughout the world celebrated the holy holiday of Ramadan, including those within the South Florida Muslim community. While Muslim Imam’s and community leaders speak of peace among the religions, the truth is, peace among religions is only as thin and the scarves that cover the faces of Islamist fundamentalists.Embattled Democratic Congressman Joe Garcia attended a Ramadan ceremony, where he spoke about the prospect of peace among the religions.
“It is a testament to the incredible strength of our nation’s religious tolerance that we gathered here today from different walks of life to celebrate the breaking of the Ramadan fast,” said U.S. Rep. Joe Garcia. “We realize that our nation may come first but we have many things to work towards. A day when no longer it’s their America or my America, but, in reality, it’s our America. That’s a day when we will truly find peace.”-Miami Herald

While Garcia and others hope for peace, and believe that this notion of peace is attainable, the reality, there can never be total peace as long as extremism within Islam exists.

In a guest story posted in the Miami Herald by Paradise Af Shar, a 2009 shooting at a mosque that left “50 bullets on the building’s north side” was stated as an ‘act of violence’ made against the Muslim presence in the area. The story also mentions that swastikas have been drawn on the walls of the center.
While these acts may have occurred against the mosque and its congregation, this same South Florida Muslim community was involved in the 2008-2009 anti-Semitic protests that showed what many believe is the true face of Islam.On December 30, 2008, a crowd of no less than 700 ant-Israel, pro-Hamas Muslims congregated in Fort Lauderdale and confronted a small group of pro-Israel protesters, that included former Congressman Allen West and myself. A few days later in Downtown Miami, this same Muslim community engaged in another violent demonstration they led to arrests, and the confiscation of an AK-47 assault rifle police found in someone’s vehicle.

Some of the ‘kind’ words that these ‘peaceful’ Muslims where chanting were: “Your mother’s whore”, “Go back to the oven, you need a bigger oven, that’s what you need,” Nuke, nuke Israel”
We need to try harder as Muslims to educate the people about what Islam really is, so that they can appreciate the beauty of it. Because once people really understand the beauty of Islam, they will have no choice but to accept it, because they’ll realize that it is part of their nature –Local Muslim Imam or cleric
Yes, I guess this hateful demonstration, which was incited by this very same Muslim cleric or Imam, is the “what Islam really is.”
