Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi has linked up with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to announce a new joint educational endeavor to combat “modern-day slavery” or human trafficking in the state of Florida.
“We are ranked third in the entire country in calls to the national human-trafficking hotline, and that has got to stop,” Bondi said at a news conference with FDLE Commissioner Gerald Bailey and representatives of the Florida Highway Patrol, Police Chiefs Association and Sheriffs Association.-Current

Current reports that Bondi and the FDLE “announced a two-hour training course called “Introduction to Human Trafficking” that will familiarize police officers with signs that a person — usually a woman forced into prostitution — is being coerced or held captive.”
Just last month, the Shark Tank reported that Florida Governor RickScott signed two bills into law that would aide victims of human trafficking,” allowing them to start their new post-trafficking lives with a ‘clean slate.’ According to the Miami Herald, the first law “seeks to help human trafficking victims who have trouble moving on with their lives because of their criminal record, while the second law keeps victims’ records private.”
