In probably one of the most desperate attempts to garner attention for a cause, the gay-rights newspaper The Advocate blatantly lied by  stating that Senator Marco Rubio’s Hillsborough County GOP Lincoln Day Dinner in Tampa, Florida was interrupted by the group GetEqual.

Here’s the lie that writer Neil Broverman stated about the event-

 Activists angry at the immigration stance of Florida senator Marco Rubio interrupted his speech at Saturday’s Hillsborough County Republican Party Lincoln Day Dinner in Tampa.

The truth is this- a very small group of gay-rights activists entered the Grand Hyatt hotel, where the event took place and were quickly escorted out around 7pm, before Rubio had even emerged from the VIP reception that started at 6:30pm.
