Kentucky U.S. Senator is all but running in the 2016 Republican Presidential primary election. Paul has openly said that he is considering a run, and taking into consideration the recent trips he has taken, or has planned to take to the early primary election states like Iowa, Paul is in. Paul hasa trip slated for sometime in May to New Hampshire, and as CNN’s Peter Hamby puts it, “the Kentucky senator is diving in head first.”According to Hamby, Paul is “organizing a series of public and private appearances across the first-in-the-South primary state” of South Carolina in June.
Paul is obviously going after the mainstream Republican voter, since he already has the Libertarian vote locked up. Paul’s early move to shore up support for a possible Presidential run, could be perceived as a political preemptive strike against Senator Marco Rubio, who is also considering a run in 2016.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
This ‘preemptive strike’ would be aimed to keep potential Rubio supporters on the fence, a bold move which may or not be hard to achieve, considering the push back that Rubio is currently receiving over his bipartisan immigration reform bill.
Paul and Rubio are considered to be the top Republican hopefuls to win the Republican Presidential nomination in 2016.
