The Heritage Foundation held its annual Resource Bank retreat in sunny Orlando, Florida, in an effort to group together conservative think tanks and ‘brainstorm’ about conservative principles and other similar stuff. The event’s closing luncheon’s keynote speaker was Florida Congressman Trey Radel, who didn’t mince his words by blaming both Democrats and Republicans for the fiscal woes that have hampered the country’s economy.
Radel expressed how important it was for Americans to decide who makes the decisions for them, and believes in pushing back against the “white pension-getting old dudes in suits’ that are currently running the country.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
The hip-hop loving, salsa-dancing Radel took issue with the usual course of action that conservatives and Republicans take in dealing with the liberal media, and in their outreach efforts, adding that “Conservatives needed to lighten up” and loosen up those political neckties.
Radel believes that conservatives need to “get out of the echo chamber of Fox News and Talk Radio,” and engage traditional and liberal media outlets to order to espouse their principles, values, and ideas to a broader audience. We are the nerds in the front row. – Rep. Trey Radel
During the Q&A portion of the luncheon, Radel recalled when he met President Obama during the President’s recent visit to the chamber of the U.S. House of Representatives. Radel said that Obama “wanted him to be a good guy” but it was evident that the President had no intention of working with the Republican-led House of Representatives.
