By JAVIER MANJARRESUnivision investigations is reporting that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro was closely working with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), who both Colombia and the United States acknowledge as being a terrorist organization.
According to the report, the Venezuelan President’s ties to the terror and drug-trafficking group were uncovered when the computer files from the deceased FARC Commander Raul Reyes were published.
“Maduro had close ties with FARC leaders, in particular with the late commander Raul Reyes and named Chancellor of the FARC, Rodrigo Granda, at least since late 2001, when he was deputy Maduro. government candidate is mentioned twenty times in a series of messages between different actors of the guerrillas, between 2002 and 2008, according to the computer files of Reyes published in 2011 by the International Institute for Strategic Studies , based in London.” –Univision
This comes to no surprise to those involved in western hemispheric politics, as Maduro’s old boss and friend, the late Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, openly supported the FARC and had even harbored the terror group’s top leaders, who operated the group from within Venezuela’s borders.
Venezuela’s upcoming presidential election between Maduro and opposition leader Henrique Capriles has many Venezuelans worried that Maduro will “fix” the election in his favor. We can only hope that Venezuela’s elections will be conducted in a fair and organized way, as to respect the rights of the Venezuelan people.
