The State of Florida is home to more Holocaust survivors than anywhere else in the world except for the country of Israel. Germany is currently paying out reparations to these survivors, but according to Florida CFO Jeff Atwater, who recently sat down to discuss what he and his office are doing to help these survivors, is saying that there are “other assets” that the survivors need to be receiving.
Atwater says that he has eliminated wire transfer fees from German banks to Holocaust survivors for the reparations payments Germany agreed to pay out, and is actively trying to get information on “other assets, insurance policies, other property” that Florida’s Holocaust survivors are also entitled to.
