Last Friday during the “vote-a-rama” in the U.S. Senate, Senators attempted to pump out as many votes as possible before taking a 2-week recess. One of the bills that came to a vote was Florida Senator Marco Rubio’s parental rights bill, aka the ‘Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act (CIANA), but failed to pass by a margin of 48-51.
 Surprisingly enough, (5) Democrat Senators, including Senate President Harry Reid, voted in favor of Rubio’s parental notification amendment. The moderate Republican and often times left-leaning Senator from Maine, Susan Collins, sided with the Senator Barbara Boxer and other Democrats in opposition.

 Rubio introduced the bill back in February, because an overwhelming majority of Americans believe that parents should be notified and involved before their underage child has an abortion.
 Rubio’s parental notification amendment prohibits the transport of a minor across state lines with the sole intent of obtaining an abortion, if the transport trounces on a parental notification law that’s already in place in the minor’s respective home state. The amendment would also ensure that parents be notified by abortion clinics within 24 hours of performing an abortion on minors coming in from out-of-state.
Extreme liberal groups such as NARAL, and Planned Parenthood, who is arguably America’s largest abortion provider, have been actively lobbying against Rubio’s parental notification amendment. Planned Parenthood says that if it passed, the “dangerous” amendment would put “teens at risk’, going as far as to all call it “unconstitutional.” Planned Parenthood adds that Rubio’s piece of legislation would criminalize doctors and others who facilitates the “safe” abortion of a minor.
 While parental notification is required for minors before they get an ear pierced, or before they have a tattoo inked into their skin, the ‘surgical’ procedure that requires general anesthesia is being fought tooth and nail by the pro-Abortion lobby.Share and “Like” the article below if you support Rubio’s parental notification amendment.
