By JAVIER MANJARRESGovernors Rick Perry (R-TX) and Rick Scott (R-FL) have had an ongoing friendly challenge as to who could create more jobs and entice more businesss to pack up and relocated to their respective states.
Governor Rick Scott says that Florida is whooping on Texas, considering that the unemployment rate has dropped down to 7.8 percent, which is the lowest since November 2008. The national jobless rate is 7.9 percent. Scott has also been openly wooing jobs to the Sunshine State, but so has Perry to his Lone Star State.
During a recent sit down interview with the Shark Tank, we asked Governor Perry about this little “friendly jobs feud” and who was creating the most jobs between he and his pal Rick Scott. Perry adds that he is actively recruiting jobs away from Florida “on a regular basis” and added that he recently visited Florida to go fishing with Scott. According to Perry, he caught bigger fish, Scott caught more.
Crushing him, it’s what we’re doing. Let’s just look at the results. And the results are, January 2012 to January 2013, over 300,000 net new jobs were created in Texas, ask him what his numbers are. –Gov. Rick Perry
