Is Florida Governor Rick Scott “going green?”  Well, sort of.  Scott addressed Palm Beach’s Forum Club this past week and  emphasized the need for future “investments into environmental projects.”  This green initiative is part of Scott’s “Florida Families First Budget” that he’s recently proposed.

Scott said that his administration initially had to make some “tough choices” regarding the environment, but due to the “smart choices” that were made over the past couple of years, Florida can now invest in certain environmental-related projects.  Scott also pointed out that Florida will soon surpass New York State in total population, so the need for more clean water to meet the growing demand is needed.

We stand behind our commitment to the water quality plan and our obligation to support the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan. Our natural treasurers play a major role in attracting 90 million tourists a year to our state – and maintaining systems are essential to continuing in our efforts to create more jobs and opportunities for Florida families.” – Gov. Rick Scott
