Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s close friend Allison Tant has been elected Chairwoman of the Florida Democratic Party, defeating her openly gay opponent State Committeeman Alan Clendenin. Initially it appeared as if Clendenin might pull off the upset, but all the right handshakes and deals were struck to ensure Tant would win- textbook intra-party politics.Subsequent to Tant’s victory, Wasserman Schultz issued the following statement-
“Our leadership is comprised of dedicated Florida Democrats who will build on our victories in 2012 and help take the Florida Democratic Party to the next level,” adding, “United, the Florida Democratic Party has both the grassroots engagement and the resources needed to move Florida forward.”
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Wasserman Schultz is now focused on ousting Republican Governor Rick Scott in 2014. While Governor Scott’s approval ratings are anything but stellar, the jobs numbers are up and Florida’s economy is on the upswing. Scott campaigned on getting Floridians back to work and the Governor does have an impressive record on jobs and regulatory reform that has helped Florida’s unemployment rate steadily decline since taking office in 2010.
