Former Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney is again under fire for his recent statement that Obama won the general election because of “gifts” he gave to certain voting blocs.
“The president’s campaign, if you will, focused on giving targeted groups a big gift,” Romney said, citing immigration proposals aimed at Hispanics and free contraception coverage that appealed to young women. “He made a big effort on small things.”-Fox News

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, who campaign for Romney, has taken issue with the governor’statements, stating, “I absolutely reject that notion,” and saying that he thought the comments were “absolutely wrong.”
But is Romney wrong for making these statements? Obama’s campaign admitted to targeting voters in the matter that they did, and the “gifts” that Romney emphasized were issues that had polled high with those respective demographics.
Romney is right to point this out. Obama did pander to these key voting demographics and it worked. Romney tried to make it about the broader more important economic outlook of the country, but failed to effectively reach out to the disenfranchised demographics Obama targeted.
