Congressional candidates Lois Frankel (D) and Adam Hasner (R) squared off at the Forum Club of the Palm Beaches’ monthly luncheon in West Palm Beach, Florida. The Club set up a ‘forum’ style debate in which its members could hear from the candidates, as well as ask them some questions of their own.During the Q & A portion of the program, the candidates were asked if they supported term limits. Hasner adamantly stated that he supported term limits and “would voluntarily” term himself out. Hasner even joked that his wife was probably believed in the limits more than he did.
Frankel tried to take a jab at Hasner when posed the same question, by stating that “First you have to be in Congress for twenty years to get retirement anyways, so.”
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Actually, members of Congress receive a full pension after only serving five complete years. “Members contribute 1.3% of their salary into their retirement plan, and pay 6.2% of their salary in Social Security Taxes” (Source)
Frankel made the statement in such firm and definitive manner that makes it hard to give her the benefit of the doubt that she simply misspoke.
