If the Ron ‘Paulinista’ vote breaks for Johnson, Romney could have a problem on his hands if the election turns out to be closer than expected.
A recent CNN/ORC poll has Johnson garnering 4% of the vote and solidifying himself as a viable factor in the race.

Former Republican turned Libertarian political strategist Roger Stone, who is consulting Gary Johnson’s presidential campaign believes that Johnson’s campaign is “Payback” for how the Republican Party treated Johnson during the Republican primary, when they excluded him from all of the debates.
The Romney bully tactics are the same as those used on Ron Paul, who’s delegates they unseated at the Republican national convention. Romney changed the rules to require a petition with a majority of signatures from eight states when Ron Paul achieved the required five to put his name in nomination. Pushing through rules changes centralizing power in bosses and taking it from the grass roots . Then they used these “new” rules to cheat Ron Paul. The Secretary of the convention would not even acknowledge or announce the votes duly won by Congressman Paul.

Stone says that internal polls have Johnson receiving 3% of the vote, and that the majority of that percentage takes away from Romney. The Romney camp needs to take heed and shore up their base while still attempting to get Libertarians to vote for Romney. But lets put the libertarian vote into perspective for the GOP- the Republican Party will not pull the majority of these Ron Paul supporters, but at the very least, it could sway enough of their votes to keep the final vote tally at a respectable margin.
