Congressman Allen West has just challenged his Democrat opponent Patrick Murphy to four debates prior to the November 6th general election. I don’t need to state the obvious, but these debates, were Murphy to decide to accept them, would likely not end well for Murphy given his inexperience and his lack of substantive understanding of the issues.

Murphy has not done much in substantiating the attacks he has made against West or even the policies that he and his Democrat Party stand by and promote. These debates would be a mismatch should they occur, and while Murphy may mull over this challenge from West, he may not have a choice.  But then again, I and many others would love to see another Allen West beat-down of another political opponent.

“To ensure the voters are provided an opportunity to hear exactly where you stand, I challenge you to a series of four debates: one debate in each of the three counties that encompass the 18th Congressional District, and the fourth debate in the geographical center of the district in Martin County,” West wrote in a letter to Patrick Murphy.

 “Each debate will have a separate and specific focus: two debates will focus on economic security, another on energy security and the final on national security,” West added.

 “From the beginning, Patrick Murphy has been running an “anti-Allen West” campaign filled with negative attacks and blatant falsehoods.  He has offered nothing beyond broad platitudes and boiler plate left-wing talking points,” said West Campaign Manager Tim Edson.  “It’s time for Murphy to stop hiding behind his father’s racist, vicious attack ads and tell voters where he stands  He especially needs to explain his support for a plan that cuts Medicare for current recipients by $700 billion and puts their healthcare decisions in the hands of unelected bureaucrats.
