Congressman Allen West has managed to retroactively get under the skin of Congressman Alcee Hastings(D-FL) and the rest of the Congressional Black Caucus by serving up some Chick-fil-A chicken and biscuits to the CBC’s weekly meeting- some six months ago. It’s quite telling how no protestations or feigned outrage were expressed by any members of the CBC earlier this year when West actually ordered up the lunch, but in the wake of the recent Chick-fil-A/gay marriage kerfuffle, Alcee and his fellow CBC members are now indignant and attempting to draw attention to their contrived affront.
Hastings said that members take turns in arranging what’s for lunch at their weekly meeting, and West decided to deliver Chick-fil-A instead of any other supposedly less controversial fast food establishment.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
It wasn’t too long ago that Congressman Hastings told me himself that he wished he and other Democrat members of Congress would get more news coverage.
“We have a rotation in the Congressional Black Caucus where every member provides the lunch one of the weeks when we meet,” Hastings said in a Monday interview. The lunches, he said, are often quite delicious.
“We have fried chicken. And we have catfish and BBQ. We do not have watermelon, although sometimes people will have fruit. We serve a full course meal with collard greens. We have Jamaican beans and rice,” Hastings said. But West “sent Chick-fil-A with biscuits. Ok?”-Huffington Post
