Moderate Jews Increasingly Conflicted Over Obama and Israel
By Javier Manjarres
The recent spate of Iranian sponsored terrorist attacks around the world has much to do with the fact that the rogue Islamic regime has been emboldened by President Barack Obama ineffectual Middle East foreign policy that has shed U.S. credibility.Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is convinced that Iran was behind the bus bombing in Bulgaria that killed five Israelis, and we can expect that Israel will be responding in short order.
But the question of whether American Jews, who consistently claim to side with Israel and its interests, will continue to support a Democrat President who has been antagonistic to Israel and its security concerns remains a central issue. American Jews for the most part, overwhelmingly vote Democrat, except for the more Orthodox Jews who are more supportive of the Republican Party and its unwavering support of Israel.
Since 2008, a number of ‘Reform’ American Jews have shown displeasure with how President Obama has dealt with Jewish issues both domestic and foreign, especially the ongoing struggles in Israel. These same Reform Jews have also been outraged over President Obama’s demand that Israel retreat behind its 1967 borders that Prime Minister Netanyahu called “indefensible.”So it’s increasingly apparent that there are a growing number of ‘moderate’ Jews who have joined their more conservative and orthodox brethren in at least expressing their concerns about President Obama. Now what?
President Obama’s actions have made it clear that he is no friend of Israel regardless of his rhetoric to the contrary, and he continues to appease Israel’s enemies around the Middle East, even reaching out terrorist groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood.
Will these more moderate Jews show some chutzpah and vote President Obama, Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and other Democrat politicians out of office in November, or will they continue to do as they’ve always done and pull the lever for Democrats, regardless of President Obama’s reckless foreign policy towards Israel?
