Yet another Super PAC is targeting Congressman Allen West- the latest is American Sunshine PAC, a newly formed SuperPAC that has raised $350,000 from just two donors, one of them being the father of Patrick Murphy, West’s Democrat opponent.
Thomas P. Murphy, Jr. donated a whopping $250,000 to the American Sunshine PAC, and an additional $100,000 was donated by a Ibrahim N. Al-Rashid of Miami. Murphy is facing a Democrat primary from a Jim Horn who recently put out a political mailer that mentions Murphy’s 2003 arrest for disorderly intoxication and possessing a fake driver license.
Horn stated that Murphy’s February 13, 2003 arrest “at a famous gay bar would come out,” that would supposedly embolden Congressman West’s support base. Murphy was arrested outside the Crobar nightclub on a Sunday night that was advertised as a ‘gay’ night.
