U.S. Senator Marco Rubio issued a statement ripping President Barack Obama for his lack of vision and blatant disregard for the safety of the United States and its interests by asserting that Venezuelan Dictator Hugo Chavez is not a threat to national security of the United States.

Rubio stated that Obama “has been living under a rock” by ignoring the fact that Chavez has forged a disturbingly close ties with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinajad.

“We’re always concerned about Iran engaging in destabilizing activity around the globe. But overall my sense is that what Mr. Chávez has done over the last several years has not had a serious national security impact on us.”- President Barack Obama

Venezuela has also been stepping up its military capability with Russian-made equipment and arms as well as an aerial drone program that is being co-developed with an Iranian engineer who is behind Iran’s own ballistic missile program.

Sources are also saying that there is growing evidence that Chavez is working with terrorist organizations such as Hezbollah, and the likelihood that Venezuela will eventually acquire a deliverable nuclear weapon growing by the day. 

“It’s now disturbingly clear that President Obama has been living under a rock when it comes to recognizing the national security threat posed by Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez.

 “Hugo Chavez is not only a threat to the Venezuelan people’s freedom and democratic aspirations, he has also supported Iran’s regime in its attempts to expand its intelligence network throughout the hemisphere, facilitated money laundering activities that finance state sponsors of terrorism and provided a safe haven for FARC narco-terrorists, among many other actions. Just yesterday, the Wall Street Journal detailed how Hugo Chavez circumvents U.S. and EU sanctions to help prop up the Assad regime in Syria. And even Obama’s own State Department belatedly but rightly expelled Chavez’s consul general in Miami for her ties to a plan to wage cyber-attacks on the U.S.

On the growing concerns that Venezuela is developing its nuclear capabilities and missile technology, Mack believes that Venezuela should be added to the list of state sponsors of terrorism because of Hugo Chavez’s support for terror organizations like Colombia’s FARC, and the increasing number of ‘undocumented’ flights entering Venezuela from Iran.  Mack sides with Congressman Allen West in his assessment that Venezuela is becoming a nuclear threat due to its closer collaboration with Iran that strongly suggests the two countries are working on a secret missile installation that could launch missiles that could reach the United States. -(Source-Shark Tank)
