Americans are constantly reminded by their representatives in Congress that they “enjoy giving back” to their communities and how they look forward to hearing from their supporters during their ‘constituent work weeks.’ Florida Congressman Bill Posey(R) is one of those that likes to ‘give back’ to his community, literally. Posey is one of a select few Members of Congress that personally wrote a check to the government which returned the pay increase that members of Congress are mandated to receive by the House Finance Office.Since 2009, Congressman Posey has return this mandated pay raise by writing a personal check in the amount of $4800 a year to the U.S. Treasury.
“I rejected the 2009 pay increase that was approved before I got to Congress and I have helped lead the effort to block any Congressional pay raises for 2010, 2011 and 2012.”-Congressman BillPosey (R-FL)
