Congressman Richard Nugent proudly represents Florida’s 5th Congressional District, and he recently spent some time with the Shark Tank on the couch- the one he literally sleeps on that’s in his congressional office. Nugent is a stickler for financial and personal accountability, and he is the author of the “Congress is not a Career” act that allows Members of Congress to opt-out of some of the specific benefits that Members of Congress receive automatically as well as in perpetuity. Whether it’s health benefits or other perks, Congress has set aside a very generous compensation package for its members- and those compensation packages are expanding as the private sector suffers under the weight of congressional profligacy.
