The Republican leadership in Washington D.C. is pressing President Obama to steer the country out of the energy crisis it finds itself in. Gas prices are at $4 a gallon throughout the country and the summer months are still months away- gas prices are typically at their highest during the summer season.

President Obama and DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz have both touted the need for an ‘all-of-the-above’ approach to energy independence. Does this mean drilling in ANWR?  It is known that what drive gas prices up is speculation on crude oil.  If the President were to open up drilling in ANWR or in other places and announce the   reopening of one oil refinery, oil speculators would help ‘fuel’ a downward spike in oil prices.  We saw this happen in the early 1980’s, and as recently as 2008, when President George W. Bush sought to end the ban on offshore oil exploration.

Florida Congresswoman Sandy Adams addressed the issue of  rising gas prices at a recent press conference and concluded her remarks by stating,”It’s time to act, Mr. President”-
