With the Republican Presidential primary season coming to a critical juncture at South Carolina and Florida’s primaries, all signs are beginning to point towards a Mitt Romney nomination. Former Speaker Newt Gingrich has been enjoying a mini-surge of late after seeing his campaign nosedive as his campaign was bombarded with a heavy dose of negative campaign ads in Iowa. Can Gingrich bounce back from such a debilitating plunge? Many of the Gingrich faithful believe so, and some polls do as well- Gingrich trails Romney in the latest Real Clear Politics average by 7 percentage points.
We are seeing great movement in Florida, Newt’s message is going to resonate because he’s going to talk about jobs and the economy-were going to win Florida.-Deborah Cox Rousch, Newt Gingrich’s Florida State Director
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
While Gingrich is widely regarded as the proverbial smartest guy in the room who loves to smack down the media, Gingrich still remains his own worst enemy, as he has made presumptuous statements that have turned away potential supporters and caused great damage to his campaign.
If Gingrich can win South Carolina or finish a strong second, it could significantly move the needle for him in Florida. Considering the lack of trust that conservatives still have towards Mitt Romney, a strong Gingrich performance in South Carolina, perhaps even coupled with a Santorum exit from the race after that primary would make it possible for Gingrich to prevail in Florida.
