Delray Beach, Florida- Congressman Allen West spent his Sunday morning with a couple hundred of his supporters to assemble care packages for U.S. Military personel that are stationed in both Afghanistan and Iraq. The 6th annual ‘Project Holiday’, was organized by the group ‘You Are Not Alone,’ and held at the Delray Beach Community Center, where volunteers packaged over 250 boxes filled with everything from toiletries, food snacks, CD’s and other essentials that a soldier may need while serving overseas.
While this was officially a non-partisan event, it is worth mentioning that several other politicians lent their hands to this worthy cause. Aside from Congressman Allen West, Delray Beach Mayor Nelson McDuffie, Delray Beach City Commissioner Angeleta Gray, and Republican congressional candidate Karen Harrington. Harrington drove down from an earlier event in Orlando to lend her time to the event as she campaigns to defeat Democrat Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz.
