The comments made by President Obama and French President Nicholas Sarkozy about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continue to resonate with political pundits, and now the hierarchy of the Republican Party is weighing in. Republican National Committee (RNC) Co-Chairwoman Sharon Day released the following statement aimed at President Obama and DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz in response to her latest ‘clean up’ efforts of President Obama’s latest slight towards Israel-“Recently DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz has taken on the clean up role when it comes to Obama’s relationship with Jewish Americans. Not long ago Wasserman Schultz went to the Sun Sentinel Editorial Board to try and sugarcoat President Obama’s record with the Jewish community, saying President Obama ‘has a solid record on Israel’ and that ‘Israel has no better friend than President Obama.’
“It turns out Israel’s friend, Barack Obama, was caught making disparaging remarks about the Israeli Prime Minister when he thought the cameras were off. The bottom line is President Obama needs to change his tone and his actions toward our strongest ally in the Middle East or the RNC will help elect a Republican who will.”-RNC Co-Chair Sharon Day
