Four-term Congressman Connie Mack is reportedly ready to announce his candidacy for the U.S. Senate, and although a formal announcement may still be weeks away, Mack’s senior adviser, David James, confirmed that Mack will announce his entrance into the race.Back in March, Mack held a press conference back where he supposedly ended speculation that he would run for the Senate and subsequently endorsed State Senator Mike Haridopolos, who later withdrew his candidacy from the race.
Mack buffed up his fiscal conservative bona fides with his “Mack Penny Plan” that he introduced back in May that aims to balance the federal budget in part by annual spending cuts of 1 percent for six years.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Mack is a telegenic figure who has both instant name recognition and the political pedigree that instantly make him a credible contender for the nomination, as he is the son of former two-term Florida U.S. Senator Connie Mack III.
How will Mack’s entrance affect the Republican Senate Primary? Â While some consultants think that Mack might become the instant frontrunner in the race- Mack’s name ID alone may entice ‘fence-sitting’ supporters of George LeMieux and even Adam Hasner to jump ship and get on board with his campaign. Â But this is mere speculation, as the rumblings of an unhappy and disenfranchised support base in his congressional district could prove problematic for Mack as the primary race unfolds.
