The annual Florida Family Policy Council dinner in Orlando, Florida featured Presidential candidate and Congresswoman Michele Bachmann as the keynote speaker, and during her address, she shared a very warm and personal story about the time her and her husband miscarried their fourth child. As Congresswoman Bachmann stated, “Miscarriages are a big thing.” It’s not widely known that around 50% of all pregnancies end in miscarriages- in many instances, women do not even know they are pregnant when they occur, as many miscarriages happen during the first few weeks of pregnancy.Bachmann stated that she had the miscarriage at the 3 month mark of her pregnancy. Many people including myself can relate, as several years back my ex and I miscarried at about the same time in the pregnancy. Miscarriages are a big deal. If you have not experienced a miscarriage, it’s hard to comprehend the psychological toll they exact out of couples.
