Florida Senate President Mike Haridopolos has dropped out of the Republican Primary for U.S. Senate. This move was expected by many insiders who saw that the Haridopolos campaign might be unable to rebound from too many self-inflicted wounds. I personally expected Haridopolos to drop out of the race at some point, but not this early in the campaign. Haridopolos made his announcement in a taped video message- see video below.
This certainly changes the dynamic of the race, as it may result in an Adam Hasner vs. George LeMieux showdown, aka as Rubio v. Crist Rd. 2. Hasner has long been a staunch ally of Senator Marco Rubio, and George LeMieux is one of Governor Crist’s closer confidants that helped Charlie Crist’s rise to power. On the ground, Rubio supporters are heading towards Hasner while the Crist loyalists are already behind Senator LeMieux.
