Many politicos throughout Washington, D.C. believe that with the killing of Usama Bin Laden, the Global War on Terror is essentially over and the the strategic threats we faced from terror groups are behind us. This unfortunately is not the case for the simple fact that the GWOT is just that, a global war that associates many terrorist groups and their adherents who are far more strategically relevant than was Bin Laden in his Abbotabad bachelor pad watching porno. Congressman Allen West believes that this type of “political correctness will wind up killing us,” and believes that the U.S. Military needs to reevaluate it’s strategic capabilities.
West feels that the military should focus on a beefing up its maritime efforts in order to make the U.S. forces more agile and mobile-the military needs to be able to strike just over the horizon. On the question of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, West takes aim at a measure that he never would have supported were he still in the military.
