Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen expressed her concern about border security in response to President Obama’s recent trip to Texas in which he campaigned for amnesty for illegal immigration. Ros-Lehtinen noted the stark difference between the United States and countries such as Mexico as to how they enforce their stricter immigration laws. Mexico has no reservations about fining, incarcerating, or kicking illegals out of their country. “Mexico will deport you in a Mexico City Minute,” Ros-Lehtinen explained.
Ros-Lehtinen also took issue with Mexico trying to dictate to the U.S. as to how to run our immigration policy, stating that true immigration reform cannot take place until the border security issue is addressed first.
