Iranian-born American citizen Farid Khavari has throw his hat into the crowded Miami-Dade Mayor’s race. Khavari left Iran at an early age after his family was persecuted and his father was executed by the incoming Iranian regime in the late 1970’s. Khavari is an author and an economist who believes that Miami-Dade is in the midst of a economic meltdown-he may be right. In asking him about property taxes, Khavari proposed that property taxes be eliminated within two years. Khavari believes that the Miami tunnel project is “a waste of money and resources because it doesn’t create enough jobs.”
