Earlier today, I had a phone conversation with potential U.S. Senatorial candidate Nick Loeb in which he expressed that “it’s way too early” to announce his candidacy. Loeb was speaking to me from the Dallas-Fort Worth Airport as he awaited his flight back to Miami, where he will spending a few days meeting with “potential supporters and donors” for his possible bid. Loeb has been in the Los Angeles area of late with his current girlfriend, actress Sofia Vergara, and he will be traveling to New York City later in the week.
Loeb went on to tell me that if he were to announce, it would be after the Florida legislative session ends in mid-March. His remark about an potential announcement was very vague, because Loeb could conceivably announce at any point after the end of the legislative session and well into the summer or fall. To date, only Senate President Mike Haridopolos has announced his candidacy, former House Majority Leader Adam Hasner is expected to announce within the next month or so, and former Senator George LeMieux could announce as early as April.
