Is the title above ‘alarmist’ enough for all of you ObamaCare death panel naysayers who said they were nothing more than a fiction of fear mongers? Well, if the shoe fits, you deserve to wear it-and that means you, Dr. Donald Berwick. And here is Dr. Berwick’s newest enabler- Congressman Earl Blumenauer (D) Oregon. A member of the oh-so-consequential “House Bicycle Caucus“, Bluemenauer is a technocrat’s technocrat who never misses an opportunity to grow the tentacles of the nanny state. Now, Bluemenauer is responsible for authoring the perverted financial incentives that will encourage and accelerate “end of life care” by physicians.
Blumenauer was apparently so overjoyed that these financial incentives would be inserted into ObamaCare’s backdoor regulatory framework that he advised his staffers not to get too giddy about it, lest they might lose their “victory”. An internal email from Blumenauer’s office back in November shows the depths of his cold-hearted deception:
“While we are very happy with the result, we won’t be shouting it from the rooftops because we aren’t out of the woods yet. This regulation could be modified or reversed, especially if Republican leaders try to use this small provision to perpetuate the ‘death panel’ myth.”“We would ask that you not broadcast this accomplishment out to any of your lists, even if they are ‘supporters’ — e-mails can too easily be forwarded.”
“Thus far, it seems that no press or blogs have discovered it, but we will be keeping a close watch and may be calling on you if we need a rapid, targeted response. The longer this goes unnoticed, the better our chances of keeping it.”

Telling, indeed, that the good congressman views this travesty as an “accomplishment”. Let’s make Congressman Earl Blumenauer famous outside of OR-3. We’ll get the ball rolling by commemorating the congressman’s despicable deception with the creation of an ad hoc “committee” named in his honor- let’s call it the “Committee to Publicly Flog Congressman Earl Blumenauer- Before he Rides his Bike to Congress”. h/t, the late, great William F.
