One issue that the nation has been debating for a while is the minimum wage and whether or not it should be raised. Florida attorney John Morgan is getting in on the conversation by investing tens of thousands of dollars into an initiative that calls for raising it.
The State Divisions of Elections website posted a report showing that John Morgan’s law firm, Morgan and Morgan P.A., has contributed $87, 649 to Florida For A Fair Wage, a political committee that’s chaired by Morgan. Said committee backs a proposed constitutional amendment that would raise the sunshine state’s minimum wage to $10. It would be effective September 30th, 2021. Then, it would be raised $1 a year until September 30th, 2026 when it would be $15.Though the deadline has passed to get the measure into the 2018 ballot, the committee can still push to get it on the 2020 ballot.
In addition, this isn’t John Morgan’s first venture into changing public policy. In 2016, he made headlines for taking charge in 2016 to legalize medical marijuana in the sunshine state. It’s reported that he spent more than $10 million dollars in order to push this measure.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
In a statement last year in December shortly after leaving the Democratic Party and passing on a move to run for Florida Governor, Morgan said “We’re going to raise the minimum wage in Florida, and we’re going to do it in a bipartisan [way].”
