After an unsuccessful and ill-advised primary challenge against sitting U.S. Congressman Ron DeSantis (R), former Florida House of Representatives member Fred Costello has announced that he will once again run for congress in Florida’s 6th congressional district.
DeSantis is expected to run for governor of Florida, so Costello will avoid another primary challenge against the popular congressman, but will have to contend with other Republican primary challengers, including businessman John Ward.Aside from Ward dumping in his own wealth to jump start up his campaign, Costello’s biggest challenge maybe winning over all those Republican donors and voters who turned against him for challenging DeSantis.
“I have lived, raised my family, worked, played and prayed in Congressional District 6 for 40 years. As a USAF veteran and business owner who has served you as a dentist, Ormond Beach Mayor & State Representative, I am well prepared to Stand for US!” –Fred Costello

Costello, who supported President Donald Trump during the 2016 campaign cycle and appears to be following in his footsteps, will make the official announcement this coming weekend with a slew of campaign rallies in and around the congressional district.
