Florida Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D) sent out an email yesterday voicing her concerns about President-elect Donald Trump, Republicans and whether or not Planned Parenthood will continue to receive federal funding.
As she points out, Republicans a year ago made an effort to defund Planned Parenthood through Congress, but President Obama vetoed it once it hit his desk. Now, “with President-elect Donald Trump taking office, we don’t have the assurance of a Presidential veto to protect Planned Parenthood’s funding.”She adds that “Planned Parenthood receives 40% of its funding from the Federal Government,” and “that lower income women and families would not be able to go to Planned Parenthood for cancer screenings, STI testing, contraception, and preventative health care services” as a result of cutting funding.
Schultz condemns this as “Republicans’ crusade against women’s health care.”
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Defunding Planned Parenthood was a polarizing subject during the 2016 Presidential elections.
