Republican Congressman Carlos Curbelo must be sitting at home and laughing hysterically at what is going on with the Democratic congressional primary candidates vying to defeat him this November.

Former Congressman Joe Garcia (D) is challenging former Miami-Dade County Democratic Party Chairwoman Annette Taddeo.

Garcia, who as you all know is famous for apparently picking his ear and eating the earwax during a congressional committee meeting, was just caught shopping for an adult toy at a local Spencer’s gift shop.

While Annette Taddeo isn’t shopping for porn or “personal items” while campaigning for Congress, Taddeo is hurting her campaign by not knowing how it operates.

Taddeo’s campaign did opposition research against Garcia, but she forgot they did so. Appearing in a televised forum moderated by WPLG-ABC 10’s Michael Putney, Taddeo was asked if her campaign did the research on Garcia.

Here is what the Miami Herald reported:

“Every campaign does opposition research, and if you did some, I suspect that that’s in the norm,” moderator Michael Putney, of WPLG-ABC 10’s “This Week in South Florida,” began. “Now Mr. Garcia alleges that you did a huge amount of opposition research, including things which are kind of out of bounds. Did you?”

“No,” Taddeo said. “I have not, actually, and um, you know, the research was actually done by the party.”

“The Democratic Party?” Putney asked incredulously.

“Yes!” she said. “The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.”

Ouch.

How could she forget, or not know that her campaign commissioned opposition research?

According to the Herald, Taddeo paid Spiros Consulting a total of $9,625 for the goodies on Garcia.

Meanwhile, even though the Democrats continue to show vulnerabilities, this race is expected to be very in the end. The congressional district is a purple as can be, and with this being a presidential election year, all bets are off.
