As the Election Day gets closer in the Sunshine State things are going to get dirty, they always do. One thing that shocks the voters the most is adultery. I have heard many rumors of political affairs which have yet to be confirmed but if they are it is important to remember it is illegal.Yes, I know that might come as a shock and quite frankly when I heard about it I was surprised but we do live in the bible belt and this is a biblical law that dates back to the 1800’s.
Under Florida Statute 798.01, whoever lives in an open state of adultery shall be guilty of a misdemeanor of the second degree. Where either of the parties living in an open state of adultery is married, both parties shall be deemed to be guilty of the offense.

The sentence for a misdemeanor is imprisonment not exceeding 60 days and/or a fine of up to $500.
Some might wonder why this law is important because obviously a lot of people are having affairs in the state. Reason being is state lawmakers have attempted to get it removed from the law books but the adultery law has stuck. This makes it still relevant and it is definitely something that should be considered if those rumors I have heard are indeed true.
