Today is Election Day in Duval County. During this election voters will be picking their next mayor, sheriff and city council.
Polls will be opening at 7 am Tuesday and closing at 7 pm. Supervisor of Elections in Duval County, Jerry Holland pointed out to NewsJax4, early voter turn out has been good and that he expects a good turnout Tuesday as well.Holland said:
That’s a good trend. We’re seeing a lot of people vote both by mail and early, so we’re hoping the same thing follows for Election Day.

Holland continued by pointing out:
As you head out to vote today please make sure to bring your voter id with you but just in case you forget it there are other forms of identification you can bring.It’s really exciting. It’s not just exciting for us. There are 65 candidates in this race. Forty five of them have never been in an election before. For them, this is super exciting. And, of course, we know seven races will be over because there are only two candidates in it. But for 24 candidates, they’ll be moving onto to the May election.
They include:
– United States Passport
– Student Identification
– Military Identification
– Debit or Credit Card
– Retirement Center Identification
– Public Assistance Identification
– Neighborhood Association Identification
– Identification Card Issued by the Department of Highway, Safety and Motor Vehicles
In addition, if your signature on Election Day matches your signature on file, you will be able to vote as well.

The reality is, local elections affect you so much. I mean, both with your property taxes, sales taxes that are local, and zoning issues, it touches your lives every day.
