So-called Republican conservatives are getting backlash today because they voted or said they would have voted for John Boehner (R-OH) to become Speaker of the House once again. Two of the conservative saviors who are getting the most heat are Mia Love (R-UH) and no-show Trey Gowdy (R-SC).
Love was recently ranked the 4th most admired conservative. After yesterday a lot of people are shaking their heads in denial because just a few hours after being sworn into office she voted for John Boehner.Part of her campaign promise was to repeal and replace Obamacare yet she voted for the man who led the House to fully fund the health care law. It seems she will not be the conservative leader people had hoped she would be and just another establishment follower.
In regards to Trey Gowdy, he said he could not make it to the voting session because of the snow and he also said the following:

The position of Speaker of the House is a difficult job as evidenced by the fact that so few members seek the position.
I wasn’t expecting that one. After watching his tongue lashings on the Hill he seemed like a trail blazer. One who would not take the goodies Boehner was offering to members if they voted for him. I guess the goodies were just more tempting then the majority of Republican and Republican leaning Independents who despise Boehner.
One thing is for certain, it looks like we will have to suffer with John Boehner as Speaker of the House once again.
