“Sen. Marco Rubio has given his top fundraising lieutenants the most direct signal to date that he is seriously weighing a 2016 presidential bid.
The Florida Republican last week walked the roughly two dozen donors — some of whom had raised $200,000 for him — through the pros and cons of running for Senate or the White House in 2016.”
This was the lead in a Politico story about Rubio entertaining donors with the notion that he may run for President in 2016.
Rubio asking for donations “more than ever” is an old line that he has used since the 2010 Senate race.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
While Rubio can raise a lot of dinero for his Reclaim America PAC, the money raised doesn’t actually go to candidates or to support issues base campaigns.
Well, a small portion of it does, but the bulk of the donations that Reclaim America PAC receives goes to line the pockets of a bevy of consultants. Yep, these are the same consultants that most likely advised him to change his tune on immigration in 2013, when be legitimized liberal Democrat Senators Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Dick Durbin (D-IL) with his cosponsoring of the Senate’s “Gang of Ocho” amnesty for illegal aliens bill.
While Rubio has always wanted to run for President, and probably is seriously thinking about it, considering how much he is paying consultants for campaign and issues related work, this is really all about selling books.Rubio is pushing a book in January, and whether or not he runs for re-election, or for President in 2016, he will be in the 2016 GOP presidential limelight, and will be able to peddle his book.
The same can be said about Senator Ted Cruz and others, who are currently thinking about a run for President, and who are also currently writing a book.
