Congressman Alan Grayson (D-FL) is once again talking a tough game, saying that he would be the Republicans “worst and last nightmare” if he is picked to sit on the House’s Select Committee on Benghazi.
House Speaker Boehner has appointed Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) to lead the investigation into what really happened at the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.Grayson made is remark after a petition by the liberal Credo PAC was launched, asking House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi to name the “Congressman with Guts” to be the only Democrat member on the committee.
I would be their worst, worst nightmare. I’d be their worst and last nightmare.-Rep. Alan Grayson(D)
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Democrats are confident Grayson would do a good job against Republicans, considering his history in the courtroom, but if Grayson is picked to sit on the committee, will he turn the proceedings into some kind of circus side-show?
I am pleased to see that Mr. Grayson has promptly responded to our call to serve on the Benghazi Select Committee.
However, Mr. Grayson’s recent remarks on (where else?) MSNBC indicate that he is utterly unserious about getting to the truth of what happened on September 11th, 2012.
Instead of spewing partisan chest-puffery about being the GOP’s worst nightmare, Mr. Grayson should devote himself to getting to the bottom of the respective worst nightmares of Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Tyrone Woods and Glenn Doherty, as well as those of our personnel on the ground on that fateful evening.Given Mr. Grayson’s remarks and his recent mishandling of classified information divulged by Edward Snowden, it is clear that Mr. Grayson is unfit to serve on the Benghazi Select Committee.-Bonilla For Congress Website
Bonilla has a point, as do other Republican members of Congress, like Representatives Bill Posey (R-FL) and Pete Sessions (R-TX),who have pointed out that Grayson has vowed to disrupt House proceedings with his “Bust their chops” initiative in the Congress.
Grayson contends that the only circus act here would be the Select Committee hearings themselves, stating that Republicans are running from the real issues.“They don’t want to talk about health care, they have no answers. They don’t want to talk about education, or housing, or benefits, or pensions, or anything that is real in the lives of the American people. They have no answers. So instead, what they do is they try to embarrass the administration over and over again. Instead what they do is embarrass themselves.”-Rep. Alan Grayson (D)
We will see if Grayson turns out to be the real embarrassment of the hearings, and not the Republicans, as he contends they will be.
Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle should put partisanship aside and really look into getting all the facts about what really happened in Benghazi.
